Lynch holds lead at Fresno State Classic, 'Dogs tied for second

FRESNO, Calif. - Junior Harriet Lynch of the Fresno State women's golf team sits atop the individual leaderboard through 36 holes of the Fresno State Classic. Lynch paced the field at the Bulldogs' home-hosted event, played at Copper River Country Club (par 72, 6,100 yds.) on Monday and Tuesday this week.

Lynch had a program-low two-round total after firing a 10-under-par 134 (68-66) to earn her the top spot in the 84-golfer field through the opening two rounds at Copper River. The junior used a career-low 66 in the second round to secure a three-stroke lead heading into Tuesday's final round. Lynch led the field with 11 birdies. She also led all golfers in par three and par four scoring on Monday.

As a team, the Bulldogs are tied for second with a 4-over 580 (294-286). Fresno State's 286 in the second round is its lowest single round score of the season, and lowest since the first round of the season-opening tournament (Rebel Beach Invite, Feb. 15-16).

Senior Brigitte Thibault was 3-over-par (75) in round one, but settled in during the next 18 to move up to T15th with a 1-under 71. Thibault has shot a 2-over-par 146 in the tournament. Junior Jessica Hall broke into the top 25 just one stroke behind Thibault (73-74=147). Hall posted her second-lowest two-round total of the season on Monday.

Freshman Lory Paradis finished T58 through 36 holes of the Fresno State Classic. Paradis shot a 11-over-par 155. The freshman opened the event with a 80 in round one, but responded with a 75 through the next 18. Senior Kristin Simonsen was one stroke behind Paradis as she shot a 12-over 156 (78-78) on Monday. Simonsen is T63.

No. 26 Stanford leads the field with a 8-under-par 568 (282-286). The Bulldogs sit tied for second place with Long Beach State (288-292). Play at the Fresno State Classic resumes tomorrow morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. PT. Live scoring of the event is available at GolfStat.com.
