Avery tabbed MW Offensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State senior Ele Avery was named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Bulldogs to a 2-0 weekend, announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Fresno State defeated Nevada 3-1 on Friday before capping the weekend off with a 1-0 win over Boise State. Avery finished the weekend with two goals, one assist and four shots. The senior played 143 minutes on the attack over the weekend.
The Elk Grove, Calif. native scored the game-winning goal against Wolf Pack. In the 54th minute, she stole a pass in the Wolf Pack defensive third, held off and outran two defenders and slotted a shot to the right side past the goalkeeper. She also chalked an assist in the contest. Â
Against the Broncos, Avery scored the lone goal of the contest for her second game-winner of the weekend. Avery split two defenders in the 66th minute to chip the ball inside the left post past the Boise State keeper.
Fresno State remains undefeated at home this spring. The Bulldogs are 5-3-1 overall and sit tied for second in the West Division standings with 16 points.
