Bulldogs drop pair in Las Vegas

Miranda Rohleder, Hayleigh Galvan and Keahilele Mattson hit home runs on Saturday in the Bulldogs’ road games at UNLV.

Fresno State (30-9, 14-3 Mountain West) hit three home runs in Saturday's contests against the Rebels with Miranda Rohleder, Hayleigh Galvan and Keahilele Mattson all going yard.

The Rebels won game one 6-5 on a walk-off RBI single and took game two 9-1 in five innings, also on a walk-off RBI single.

GAME ONE – Fresno State erased on a five-run deficit with a three-run home run by Miranda Rohleder in the top of the sixth and then a two-run blast off the bat of Hayleigh Galvan with two outs in the top of the seventh to extend the game.

In the bottom of the seventh, UNLV used an RBI single by Mia Trejo to win the game, 6-5, and snap the Bulldogs' 13-game winning streak.

Hailey Dolcini threw the first four innings and recorded six strikeouts, but allowed three walks and five hits leading to UNLV's first five runs. Darinna Orme came out the bullpen for the final two innings.

Mattson, Vanessa Hernandez, and Adrianna Noriega each had two hits in the game.

GAME TWO – Danielle Lung started game two in the circle for the Bulldogs.

Mattson crushed a solo home run out to right field in the first inning to give Fresno State the early 1-0 lead.
Â
UNLV responded with two runs in the bottom half of that opening frame and finished off the run-rule shortened game on an RBI single by Denise Armendariz in the fifth to plate the winning run.

The Bulldogs and Rebels will play again in Las Vegas on Sunday at 12 p.m. PT in the series finale.
