'Dogs welcome Rebels to close out home slate [May 22-23]

UNLV is hitting .330 from the dish as a team to lead the MW and rank third in the nation. The Rebels check in second in the nation in doubles per game (2.43), third in slugging percentage (.539), 10th in on-base percentage (.408), 13th in scoring (7.8) and 14th in home runs per game (1.47).
Junior Jack-Thomas Wold is one of the top hitters in the nation leading the MW and sits third in the nation in batting average (.438) and slugging percentage (.813) and tops the team in hits (56), runs (30), home runs (11), RBIs (39) and total bases (104).
Six other regulars hit over .300 for the Rebels with Diego Alarcon leading the team with 14 doubles, Brendan Brooks has scored 27 runs and has a .549 on-base percentage and Eric Bigani is a Buster Posey Award semifinalist hitting .327 and has thrown out seven would-be base stealers and has a .994 fielding percentage.
On the mound, UNLV has a 5.16 ERA to lead the MW and has a 2.85 strikeout-to-walk ratio with 208 strikeouts while allowing 73 walks.
Freshman left-hander Josh Sharman has made a team-high 10 starts coming off a complete game last Sunday against SDSU and leads the team with 53.1 innings. Bradley Spooner has a team-high five wins and has 51 strikeouts in 48.1 innings.

Higgins standing out
Junior Ryan Higgins is coming off a career-best night against USC going 5-for-5 with a pair of home runs and three singles, two RBIs and three runs scored. Over his last four games, he is 11-for-16 with five extra-base hits, five RBIs and six runs scored. He leads the team in batting average (.352), runs (39), doubles (10), triples (3), RBIs (34), slugging percentage (.655) and on-base percentage (.457).
Morgan sees hitting streak come to an end
Redshirt sophomore catcher Zach Morgan saw his 19-game hitting streak end on Tuesday going 0-for-4, but drew a walk to extend his on-base streak to 20 games.
He has reached base in 32 of the 37 games he has played in this season.
Double trouble
Fresno State ranks first in the nation in double plays per game (1.15) and are 6th in the country with 45 double plays.
