Thibault's season comes to a close at NCAA Championship

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - A historic season for senior golfer Brigitte Thibault came to an end on Sunday as the Bulldog saw her way through 54 holes at the 2021 NCAA Women's Golf Championship, but fell short of advancing to the final round of stroke play as an individual in the 132-golfer field.
As the first Bulldog in program history to make it to the National Championship, Thibault finished tied for 59th with an 8-over-par 224 (75-76-73) at the Grayhawk Golf Club this weekend. The senior Bulldog had her best round on Sunday, shooting a 1-over-par 73 to close out her run on the biggest stage. Thibault finished the day with back-to-back birdies on holes 17 and 18. Her performance on Sunday moved her 15 spots up the individual leaderboard for her finish.
Thibault carded 38 pars and six birdies on the weekend. Her number of holes at par tied for the fifth-most by any golfer in the playing field this weekend. Thibault also became the Fresno State all-time leader in career birdies earlier this weekend, ending with 292 through four years.
Following Sunday's round, the NCAA determined the top 15 teams and 9 individuals not on an advancing team. Those selected teams and individuals will play one final round of stroke play on Monday, determining the individual champion and runner-up. Advancing teams will continue to compete in match play, beginning with a quarterfinal round on Tuesday. The 2021 team National Champion will be crowned on Wednesday.
