'Dogs drop pair in Colorado

USAFA, Colo. - The Diamond 'Dogs dropped a pair of games at Air Force on Friday falling 9-7 in game one and 13-6 in game two at Falcon Field.
Fresno State (19-25, 15-18 MW) tallied nine hits in game one and 10 more in game two while scoring a combined 13 runs and smacking three home runs on the day.
Zach Presno and EJ Andrews, Jr. knocked out home runs in game one and Vinny Bologna cranked a three-run bomb in the second game.
Andrew Kachel tallied two hits in each game with a double and run scored in game one and a double and a walk in the nightcap.
On the mound, Jamison Hill made the start in game one tossing 6.2 innings allowing 11 hits, five runs, four earned, walked two and struck out four. He gave way to Robbie Peters who allowed three earned runs and took the loss before Oscar Carvajal finished out the game.
Left-hander Jake Dixon made the start in game two going one inning, but his start was disrupted by a 30-minute lighting delay, that brought in Nik Cardinal in relief who went 3.1 innings and struck out three, but suffered the loss.
Alex Kendrick, Cooper Bergman, Tommy Hopfe and Kyle Pruhsmeier closed out the game on the mound.
How It Happened
The 'Dogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opener with a two-run home run to left field by Presno that was his 32nd career long ball which ties him for ninth in program history with Pete Dalena.
A single by Nate Thimjon and a hit by pitch to Matt Ottino put a pair on base for Andrews, Jr. who smacked a three-run bomb (watch) to left to put the 'Dogs ahead 5-0.
With Hill keeping the Falcons off the board through the first three innings, Air Force (26-21, 18-15 MW) struck for three runs in the fourth scoring on a pair of RBI base hits and a sacrifice fly.
The Bulldogs responded in the fifth with a pair of runs as Presno and Ryan Higgins led off with walks and were knocked home on a two-out, two-run RBI single through the right side by Ivan Luna (watch).
With a 7-3 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Falcons started to chip away at the 'Dogs lead getting a sacrifice fly in the sixth, added two runs in the seventh before surging ahead for a 9-7 lead with three more runs in the eighth scoring on a RBI single and a two-run home run by Braydon Altorfer.
Game two saw a scoreless first four innings with the 'Dogs getting the offense going with two runs in the fifth on a RBI groundout by Andrews, Jr. (watch) and a RBI single to left by Higgins (watch) for a 2-0 lead.
The Falcons quickly answered back with eight runs in the bottom of the fifth capitalizing on a Bulldog fielding to score their first run before a pair of RBI singles brought in three more and the scoring was closed out by a grand slam from Altorfer.
A four-run sixth for the 'Dogs briefly brought the visitors back within two at 8-6 scoring on a RBI single by Dylan Johnson (watch) and a three-run home run by Bolonga (watch), but the Falcons drove in five more runs in the eighth to put away a 13-6 victory.
