NEW ORLEANS – Fresno State's Hannah Chappell, Breanna Covington, Amelia DiPaola and Vanja Spaic earned All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced on Thursday. The Bulldogs' men's and women's track and field teams were also honored with the All-Academic Team award.
Chappell, a master's student in education-curriculum and instruction, qualified for the NCAA preliminary rounds for the first time in her career. Like Chappell and Covington, DiPaola, who is an animal science-pre veterinary major, also made her first NCAA appearance. The sophomore finished fourth in the hammer at the Mountain West Championships and registered a personal best throw of 59.20m/194-3.
