No. 10 Bulldogs edged in 9-7 loss

TEMPE, Ariz. – No. 10 Fresno State fell to No. 8 Michigan 9-7 on the final day of the Arizona State Tournament, Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs fall to 1-3 on the season.
Sienna Jagielski and Fanni Muzsnay scored two goals apiece to lead the offense. In goal, Paula Nieto Jasny played all 32 minutes and recorded two saves.
Additional goal scorers included Emily Nicholson (1), Emily Diacono and Ella Simone.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs and the Wolverines scored two goals apiece in the first quarter. Diacono found the back of the net to start the second quarter to give Fresno State its first lead of the game. Michigan quickly countered with three consecutive goals to retake the lead. The Wolverines owned a 5-3 advantage at the half.
Michigan opened scoring in the third quarter, but Simone responded with a goal for the 'Dogs to end the run. Jagielski struck for Fresno State, but the Wolverines netted two more goals before the quarter was over to take an 8-5 lead into the final quarter.
Jagielski started the quarter with a goal for the 'Dogs, cutting the Wolverine's lead to two. Michigan scored one final goal. Nicholson created an offensive spark and netted a goal with 1:14 left in the game, but the Bulldogs would fall 9-7.

Fresno State will travel to compete in the Cal Cup Jan. 29-30.
