With 11 different Bulldogs notching at least one hit, Zach Morgan continued his hot start to the season with a 4-for-5 performance smacking three doubles, driving in four RBI and scoring a pair of runs.
Ivan Luna and Tyler Davis each launched three-run home runs while Josh Lauck led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run.
On the mound, sophomore southpaw Ixan Henderson set career highs in innings pitched (5.2) and strikeouts (12) as he held UCR to four hits, no runs and one walk.
Will Springer, Cooper Bergman and Matt Ottino closed out the game on the mound as Ottino made his collegiate pitching debut tossing one inning.
How It Happened
With Lauck getting the 'Dogs on the board with his home run, the 'Dogs broke open the game in the third inning with an 11-run frame that saw 14 Bulldogs come to the plate.
Morgan got the scoring started with an RBI double to left field before coming around to score on a wild pitch. Newcomer Payton Allen smacked his first career hit as a Bulldog to right field to bring home Luna and Travis Welker, Lauck and Andrew Kachel followed with three straight walks with the bases loaded to put the 'Dogs up 7-0.
An RBI single by Morgan brang around two more 'Dogs and Luna capped off the inning with a three-run bomb to right field to make it 12-0 in favor of the Bulldogs.
A two-run home run by UC Riverside in the seventh broke up the 'Dogs shutout bid, but the Bulldogs were not done scoring with four more runs coming across in the bottom of the eighth including a three-run blast to left by Davis.
