No. 8 Bulldogs go 5-0 at home

FRESNO, Calif. – The No. 8 Bulldogs finished the 2022 Fresno State invite with wins over No. 13 Long Beach State and No. 11 San Jose State. The 'Dogs were a perfect 5-0 over the weekend, improving to 9-7 on the season.
Senior Daphne Guevremont had an outstanding day for the Bulldogs' offense, scoring 11 goals and dishing four assists. Goalkeeper Paula Nieto Jasny played the entirety of both games in goal. She posted a combined 16 saves and three steals on the day.
GAME 1
The Bulldogs and the Beach battled back and forth in the opening quarter. The game was knotted 3-3 with 1:18 left. Brooke Ochoa found he back of the net with seven seconds left to give Fresno State the advantage after the first eight minutes.
Fresno State and LBSU exchanged goals to start the second quarter, but the Beach would string together two consecutive goals to take a 6-5 lead with 2:45 left. Guevremont belted one into the back of the net to make it a 6-6 game at the half.
Guevremont went to battle with the Beach, scoring all three of the Bulldogs' goals in the third. LBSU also netted three goals in the quarter, making it 9-9 with eight minutes to play.
Fanni Muzsnay opened the final quarter with back-to-back goals to give the 'Dogs an 11-9 lead with 4:36 left in regulation. Ella Simone made a play to make it a three-goal game. The Beach scored one final goal, but the 'Dogs would take the win 12-10.
GAME 2
SJSU jumped out to a two-goal lead to start the contest. Fresno State rallied with three straight goals to take the lead, 3-2. The Spartans evened the score after finding the back of the net on a power play, but Guevremont countered to give the 'Dogs a one-goal advantage after the first quarter.
Fresno State pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring SJSU 4-0. The 'Dogs took a 8-3 lead into the half.
The Spartans kicked their offense into gear, scoring six goals in the final 16 minutes, but it wouldn't be enough as the 'Dogs tacked on four more goals to secure a 12-9 win.

Fresno State will open Golden Coast Conference play at home against Santa Clara on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. PT.
