Angelo named MW Pitcher of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State junior right-hander Roman Angelo has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
For the third time this season, a Bulldog pitcher earned the weekly honor after Angelo tossed six shutout innings against San Diego State on Sunday to match his season best.
The CSU Bakersfield transfer limited the Aztecs to three hits, all singles, no runs, one walk and struck out a season-best five. With only one Aztec able to reach second base over his six innings, Angelo faced only three batters over the minimum and notched three 1-2-3 innings.
Angelo improved to 2-0 this season and his 3.51 ERA ranks fourth in the Mountain West. He is holding opponents to a .209 average from the plate to check in third in the conference and has 18 strikeouts in seven appearances this season.
