FRESNO, Calif. - On a day dedicated to celebrating the legacy of Bob Bennett, the Diamond 'Dogs secured the series win over New Mexico with a 6-2 victory at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.

Fresno State (15-16, 9-6 MW) used a pair of three-run innings and a solid start from starting pitcher Roman Angelo to notch their fifth series win of the season.

The Bulldogs totaled nine hits on the afternoon with Ivan Luna tallying a single & double, drove in three RBI and scored a run.

Vinny Bologna added a pair of hits and Blake Wink smacked his second double of the season.

On the mound, Roman Angelo improved to 3-1 tossing five innings while limiting the Lobos to five hits, one unearned run, three walks and five strikeouts.

Tommy Hopfe, Robbie Peters and Cooper Bergman closed out the game combining to throw the final four innings allowing only one hit and striking out three.

How It Happened
The Bulldogs got the scoring started in the third inning with three runs as a pair of walks and a hit by pitch loaded the bases for Luna. The Oceanside native delivered with a two-out bases-clearing RBI double down the right field to put the 'Dogs up 3-0.

The Lobos answered back with a pair of runs to cut the 'Dogs lead to one scoring one in the fifth on a wild pitch from Angelo and added a solo home run in the sixth.

The 'Dogs extended their lead to 6-2 with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth getting an RBI single by Bologna followed by two more runs after a Lobo throwing error kept the inning alive for the Bulldogs.

The Lobos threatened late in the ninth with a pair of runners on, but Bergman was able to get Sean Stephens to strike out looking to seal the win.

The 'Dogs head out on the road on Tuesday traveling to Sacramento State (15-16).
