No. 8 'Dogs win on Senior Day

FRESNO, Calif. – No. 8 Fresno State celebrated Senior Day by defeating No. 20 San Diego State 14-9 on Saturday afternoon at the Aquatics Center.
The Bulldogs improve to 14-7 (5-0 MW) this season and finish the season a perfect 9-0 at home.
Freshman Fanni Muzsnay tied her career-high with six goals and one assist for seven points to lead the Bulldogs on offense. Goalkeeper redshirt freshman Paula Nieto Jasny played all 32 minutes in the cage and recorded five saves.
Additional goal scorers included Savannah Fitzgerald (3), Daphne Guevremont (3), Emily Nicholson (1) and Brooke Ochoa (1).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State and SDSU exchanged goals to start the game before the Bulldogs went on a 3-0 run. Fresno State owned a 4-1 lead after the first eight minutes.
Fitzgerald scored her third goal of the game to open the second quarter, and Muzsnay followed with another goal for a 6-1 lead over SDSU. The Aztecs responded with back-to-back goals, but the Bulldogs countered with a 3-1 run to finish the quarter.
Fresno State took a 9-4 advantage into halftime.
The Bulldogs stayed on the attack netting back-to-back goals to start the next quarter. The Aztecs rallied with four consecutive goals to make it a three-goal game. Guevremont halted the run with a goal for the 'Dogs, but the Aztecs found the back of the net one last time before the quarter ended.
Fresno State would head into the final eight minutes with a 12-9 lead over SDSU.
The Bulldogs netted two goals in the fourth quarter while shutting out the Aztecs, to secure a 14-9 win.
