'Dogs cruise to win over Dons

FRESNO, Calif. - The Diamond 'Dogs found their offense on Tuesday evening cruising to a 16-2 victory over San Francisco at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
Fresno State (21-20) tallied 17 hits getting base knocks from 10 'Dogs with four notching multi-hit games. Led by a four-hit performance from Payton Allen, the Visalia native drove in a pair of RBIs and scored three runs.
Zach Morgan, Vinny Bologna, Ben Newton and Travis Welker all had a pair of base hits with Bologna scoring three runs along with smacking a pair of doubles.
On the pitching side, six hurlers kept San Francisco to a pair of runs, combined to strike out 11 Dons and stranded eight runners on base.
Jake Dixon tossed the first two innings before giving way to Kyle Pruhsmeier who earned his first win of the season and tied his career high with four strikeouts.
How It Happened
After a scoreless first two innings, the 'Dogs struck first with a run in the third on a sacrifice fly by Morgan. The Dons responded with a solo home run in the fourth, but it was all Fresno State from there as the Bulldogs reeled off 15 unanswered runs.
A five-run bottom of the fourth pushed the Bulldogs in front, 6-1 getting started with a bases loaded walk to Newton, a sacrifice fly by Bobby Blandford, a pair of RBI singles by Welker and Morgan and Welker came around to score on a USF error.
After a run by the Bulldogs in the fifth, Fresno State extended its lead to 11-1 with four more runs coming home in the sixth on RBI base hits from Morgan, Bologna, Tommy Hopfe and Allen.
Five more runs came across for the Bulldogs in the eighth for a 16-1 lead with the Dons closing the scoring with a run in the ninth.
