Maffo named MW Athlete of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State's Nadia Maffo was named Mountain West Track & Field Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. The senior earned the honor after throwing a personal best 65.32m/214-4 en route to winning the hammer throw at the West Coast Relays.
Maffo's winning throw ranks No. 2 all-time at Fresno State. This season, the mark ranks No. 16 in the NCAA, No. 12 in the West and No. 1 in the Mountain West.
Along with her best throw, Maffo also finished the competition with throws of 65.01m/213-3 and 64.55m/211-9. All three attempts surpassed her previous PR of 64.53m/211-8 which she set in 2019.
The win was the Italian's third in four meets this spring.
The weekly honor was Fresno State's second this year. It is only the second time the Bulldogs have won multiple Field Athlete of the Week awards in the same season.
