'Dogs tabbed fourth in MW preseason poll

Fresno State finished second in 2021 and return 10 of 11 starters.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State's women's soccer was picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West this fall according to the conference's Preseason Coaches' Poll which was released Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs were picked in the same spot a season ago but finished the year in second, tying for its most points in a season (22) since joining the MW.
Back-to-back conference champions New Mexico (121) was picked to win the league. San Diego State (100), Boise State (99) and Fresno State (96) were separated by four points. Utah State (82) was 14 points back of the 'Dogs in fifth. UNLV rounded out the top half of the league with 63 points.
Fresno State finished the 2021 season with a 9-6-4 overall record, 7-3-1 in conference play. The Bulldogs returned 10 of 11 starters from a season ago and 93.2 percent of its scoring (82 of 88 points). 28 of Fresno State's 29 goals last season are from 'Dogs currently on the roster.

Fresno State will play its lone exhibition on Saturday, traveling down to UCLA for a 5 p.m. kickoff. The Bruins are ranked No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll.
SEASON ON THE HORIZON
The Bulldogs open the season in Seattle, Wash. facing Washington on Aug. 18 and Seattle on Aug. 20. Fresno State will host Oregon State on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. in its home opener.
