'Dogs open 2022-23 season with scrimmage

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State equestrian team will dust off its saddles for competition with its annual red vs blue scrimmage on Saturday at the Student Horse Center. Riding is scheduled for 11 a.m. PT, and parking and admission are free of charge.

A look at the roster:
- Fresno State added 10 new faces to its roster for the 2022-23 season
- The Bulldogs have seven seniors on the roster for the 2022-23 season.
- Fresno State does not return an all-conference or all-american rider from the 2021-22 season.
- Three Bulldogs were named team captains for the 2022-23 season - Emily Maul, Madelyn Bloom and Lizzie Stodden. All three are team captains for the first time in their careers.
A look at the coaching staff:
- Eric Hubbard enters his eighth season as the head coach of the program, but 11th at the helm after serving three seasons as the interim head coach.
- Western assistant coach Mary Brown enters her sixth year as an assistant coach with the program.
- The jumping seat squad is led by first-year assistant coach and Bulldog equestrian alum Sierra Swaffar.
A look at the schedule:
- Fresno State has two home meets in the fall season and four home meets in the spring.
- The national championships return to the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Fla. this season
- The Bulldogs open their regular season competition with a home meet against Texas A&M on Sept. 30
