CEJA FINDING THE BACK OF THE NET
Fresno State's first goal of the 2022 season came none other than the team's active leader in career goals, Kassandra Ceja. With 12 goals in 31 games, the junior scored the 13th of her career in her 32nd match. Two games later, Ceja added No. 14.
- 11 of Ceja's 14 career goals have come at Bulldog Soccer Stadium.
FROM THE SPOT
During the last year-plus, only one Bulldog has attempted a penalty kick in regular time. Kassandra Ceja. In 2021, the Lathrop native became just the second player in program history to convert at least three PKs in a single season. She added the fourth of her career on Sunday versus Pacific.
- The junior is 4-of-4 in converting PKs in her career.
BUILDING DEPTH
One goal for every team is building depth to help get them through a three-month season. Fresno State has gone about that this fall by starting 19 of its 26 players with 17 of those earning at least two starts. Five of those individuals are in their first year in the program (Tiana Beavers, Kaydence Cortez-Garcia, Adriana Maldonado, Laura Mas, Lucía Mazón).
- 13 players have seen at least 200 minutes on the pitch.
SCOUTING UCSB
- UCSB currently sits at 0-4-2 with draws against Sacramento State and San Jose State.
- The Gauchos have five goals on the year while allowing 14.
- Four Gauchos have scored this season with Meg Burling leading UCSB with two goals.
- Three keepers have seen time for UCSB. Evann Smith has played just under 400 minutes, allowing 12 goals and making 16 saves in five starts.
- Fresno State is 7-6-1 all-time against UCSB with a 3-3-0 record on the road.
- The Bulldogs are 1-3 in their last three four trips to UCSB and 2-6-1 against the Gauchos following a five-match win streak to start the series.
- The Bulldogs' last win in Santa Barbara was a 2-1 match in 2017.
- Montana enters the week with a 2-2-2 record. One of those draws came against Mountain West foe Wyoming.
- Beginning Thursday, the Griz will face three straight MW opponents.
- Eight different players have scored for Montana this year. Delaney Lou Schorr leads the team with four, totaling nine points thus far.
- Camellia Xu has played every minute in goal, holding a 1.00 GAA and a .750 save percentage with 18 saves. She has three shutouts.
- Fresno State and Montana have met just once in their history.
- The 'Dogs won the lone meeting between the two sides 1-0 in Fresno.
