’Dogs stumble against Dirtbags, fall 10-6

Senior Travis Welker led the 'Dogs (10-9) at the dish with a 3-fior-5 outing in the midweek loss against Long Beach State (11-8).
Fresno State's Zach Statzer put away a three up, three down frame against the Dirtbags' hot bats in the seventh inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior Jaden Sheppard delivered the first hit of the game with a RBI single down the right field line to drive a run home in the top of the first.
The Dirtbags fired back with a hot streak, scoring eight runs over the first three innings, including a three-run homer in the bottom of the third.
Fresno State answered with a four-run inning in the top of the fifth with two RBI singles from Tyler Davis and Ben Newton.
A single in the seventh inning from Tommy Hopfe gave the 'Dogs one more run in the matchup against LBSU, but Fresno State was not able to overcome the Dirtbag offense.
UP NEXT
Fresno State will head to Las Vegas for a weekend series against the UNLV Rebels. The first pitch of the series will be on Friday at 6:05 p.m. PT.
