Sutherland shoots even par to open Morgan Hill Regional

MORGAN HILL, Calif. – Fresno State's Matthew Sutherland and Matthew Manganello opened the first round of the Morgan Hill Regional on Monday at The Institute Golf Club, their first career NCAA regional appearances. Sutherland shot even par while Manganello was 4 over.
Sutherland was 1 under at the turn and added his second birdie of the day at No. 10. Following three straight pars, the junior sank a third birdie at the par-5 No. 13 to move into a tie for fifth. He closed his round with three bogeys in his final four holes to finish with a 72.
Manganello was under par early after a birdie at No. 2. Following a par on his next hole, the Bulldog went 5 over during the next nine holes. The junior sank his second birdie at No. 16 but followed with a bogey on the par-3 17th.
Manganello tees off his second round tomorrow at 9:31 a.m. PT while Sutherland will be in the following group at 9:42 a.m.
