LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Fresno State senior wide receiver Erik Brooks has been named to the Paul Hornung Award honor roll for his performance in Week One, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Â
Brooks was the leading receiver in Fresno State's 39-35 victory at Purdue last Saturday, finishing the game with nine catches for 170 yards, two touchdowns, and adding a kickoff return for 35 yards. Brooks had a career-high day in all categories, including the 35-yard run on his first-ever return.
Â
Brooks was quarterback Mikey Keene's favorite target in their first game together. Keene found Brooks on four plays of 20 or more yards in the win.
Â
Wednesday's announcement marks the first recognition for Brooks since being a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy in 2021.
Â
The Paul Hornung Award is given annually by the Louisville Sports Commission (LSC) to the most versatile player in major college football.
