'Dogs win five at Sunbird Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State track and field teams opened the outdoor season with five event wins on Saturday at the Sunbird Invitational, hosted by Fresno Pacific. The men's team picked up three of those wins for the Bulldogs.
On the track, Enoch Okoh won the 100 meters with a time of 10.87 while Dane Koesterer grabbed the win in the 400-meter hurdles with a new personal best of 53.91.
Bulldog freshmen captured both wins in the long jump. On the men's side it was Jabari King, Bronson Ortlieb and Kyle Hughes going 1-2-3. King closed the competition with his best mark registering 7.04m/23-1.25. The women went 1-3-4 in the event with Lynee Sims jumping 5.57m/18-3.25.
Freshman Peyton Bitter finished first in the high jump with a clearance of 1.50m/4-11.
To go with the five wins, Fresno State had nine total runner-up finishes. Those came from Hughes (100mH, 15.11), Ortlieb (long jump, 6.95m/22-9.75), Jamarcus Phillips (discus, 43.45m/142-6), Kamoni Reams (high jump, 1.98m/6-6), Josh Dunu (triple jump, 13.66m/44-9.75) Maria Lawson (discus, 45.21/148-4), Anne Remlinger (javelin, 32.44m/106-5) and Kaja Bins (shot put, 12.34m/40-6).
