'Dogs drop final road contest to the Cowgirls

LARAMIE, WY.- Fresno State women's basketball drops their final road contest in a tough battle to the Cowgirls on Saturday afternoon in Arena Auditorium, 62-51.Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Mia Jacobs was the first on the ball sinking in back-to-back threes for the 'Dogs. Fresno State took the lead well into the first quarter followed up by Keely Brown with a layup in the paint and downtown jumper. Cowgirls' responded in the final minutes with their own set of threes from Barnes and Ollilainen. Tamia Stricklin's jumper outside the paint gets the 'Dogs back within two.Â
Fresno State was able to keep the pace and hold the game within two. Cowgirls' got off to a 5-0 run stretching their lead to as much as seven. Deajanae Harvey puts away back-to-back driving layups breaking Wyoming's lead to one. Brown closes it out on a 1-2 trip to the charity line for a one point lead. Wyoming pushes in the last minute to "grab" another five point lead off of Fertig and Mellema. Â
Fox starts the second half with a three-pointer jumper of her own. Sydney Dethman closed in on the next four points to keep the Cowgirls on their toes, making it a two-point game. Bulldogs missed the net for the next three minutes before Brown landed another three-pointer taking it within five.Â
The final ten was once again started off the hands of Fox with another shot from the three. Cowgirls' saw their largest lead of the night, 12, after Fertig stepped to the line (2-2). Stricklin snaps a four minute scoring drought with the Bulldogs x three-pointer of the night. Stricklin's basket is the final shot for the 'Dogs before Wyoming takes another trip to the charity line (1-2).Â

- Fresno State drops to 7-10 in conference play and 3-8 on the road
- Keely Brown was the Bulldogs leading scorer with 13 pointsÂ
- Fresno State shot 31% from the field, 100% from the foul line and 34% from the threeÂ
- Fresno State saw more points from the bench and seven a piece from the paint
- Bulldogs largest run of the night, 6-0, in the second quarter and biggest lead came in the firstÂ
- Wyoming extends their series win streak to fiveÂ
