COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Following Fresno State's final meet before heading into the Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Ceonna Pipion was named MW Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon. She is the fourth different Bulldog to earn a weekly honor from the conference this month.
On Senior Day, Pipion posted two wins and two runner-up finishes at the Fresno State Invitational on Saturday. The highlight of her afternoon was breaking the program record in the 400 meters with a time of 52.79, one one-hundredth of a second better than Tanya Dooley's record which had stood since 1994. The Folsom, Calif. product also took second in the 200 meters with a time of 23.48, missing that school record by just three one-hundredths of a second. Both of those times rank No. 2 this season in the MW.
In the relays, Pipion and her teammates started the day by lowering their No. 2 time in program history in the 4x100 to 45.24. The 4x400 team closed the day with a win, clocking a time of 3:39.96, the second-fastest time in the conference this season, only behind the team's conference-leading time set a week earlier.
This is the second weekly honor of Pipion's career. She last earned MW Track Athlete of the Week on Dec. 12, 2023, the first of this year's indoor season.
