NEW YORK – The Big Ten and NBC announced on Monday morning that Fresno State's season opener at Michigan on August 31 will kickoff at 4:30 p.m. PT (7:30 p.m. ET) and be broadcast on NBC.
The primetime selection is the first time in program history that Fresno State will play a game broadcast on NBC.
2024 will be the third straight year with Fresno State being showcased on a major broadcast network throughout the regular season, playing games on FOX in 2022 and 2023.
Fresno State's Week 1 trip to Ann Arbor is the first meeting between the schools. Michigan enters the 2024 season as the reigning national champion following a 15-0 season in 2023.
The 2024 opener will be the first time in the CFP era that the Bulldogs will face the defending national champion. The last time the Bulldogs faced the defending national champion was a 2005 matchup with USC.
Fresno State last faced the defending national champion in the season opener in 1927, playing at Stanford on Sept. 17, 1927. Stanford was the 1926 co-national champion, along with Alabama.
