'Dogs sign Big Ten transfer Sofia Pizzoni

FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State women's tennis team announced the signing of incoming junior Sofia Pizzoni to the 2024-25 roster.Â
Pizzoni (Foligno, Italy) is a transfer from the University of Minnesota with two years of eligibility remaining after spending her first two seasons with the Gophers. The Italian native held a 10-5 singles record with four conference appearances and wins over Indiana and Iowa this season at the No. 6 slot. As a doubles partner, primarily playing No. 3 doubles with partner Aiva Schmitz, Pizzoni held a 8-8 record with six conference matches under her belt, leading the team in individual doubles wins on the season.Â
Pizzoni is the first transfer to sign with the Bulldogs for the upcoming 2024-25 season.Â
