STOCKTON, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team fell 6-4 to Pacific at Klein Family Field on Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore Jack Anker made his first start since March 30 after recovering from shoulder soreness and struck out his first batter faced. Pacific got ahead 2-0 with a pair of RBI singles in the bottom of the first.
The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the top of the second without a hit and a wild pitch put the Bulldogs on the board. Anker stepped on the mound for his second inning, collecting two more strikeouts.
Pacific extended its lead in the third with a solo home run in the bottom of the third and an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 5-1 game.
Tommy Hopfe drove in the Bulldogs' second run of the game with an RBI single that plated Lee Trevino who had stepped in as the second baseman for Fresno State.
The Tigers extended their lead to four runs again with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame.
Ben Newton led off the ninth inning with a walk before Cam Schneider stepped up to the plate and hit his first home run in a Bulldog uniform. Despite the late offense, the Bulldogs dropped the game 6-4 to the Tigers.
