Alumni Spotlight: Raven Fox

We continue our alumni spotlight with Raven Fox. Fox played in a Bulldog uniform for all four years under head coaches Adrian Wiggins, Raegan Pebley, and Jaime White. Fox had a standout season in her final year, as the year-by-year field goal percentage leader (124-250), assist average leader (80 ast, 2.4 avg) and steals average leader (72 steals, 2.2 avg). A string of strong senior season stats led to Fox being named Mountain West's Sixth Player of the Year and All-Defensive Team. Fox saw plenty of big time games with a WAC Championship in 2012, Mountain West Championships in 2014 and 2015 followed by a WNIT appearance in 2015.
Fox is ranked ninth all-time in minutes played for seniors with 808 minutes and closed her career with 1210 minutes, 415 points, 111 assists and 79 games played on the court as a Bulldog. Off the court Fox was named Academic All-MW her sophomore through senior year.
Q: What is your current profession, and where do you work?
Fox: I currently hold two exciting and dynamic roles. As the Owner and Creative Director of my fashion brand,RsFxx, I channel my passion for creativity and design into every piece I produce, bringing my creative ideas to life. Additionally, I work in corporate sales for a well-established furniture dealership, Two, where I utilize my skills in business and client relations. Balancing these two careers allows me to merge my creative ambitions with my professional expertise, leveraging the discipline and drive I developed as a former Division 1 athlete.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your current profession?
Fox: What I enjoy most about my current profession is the opportunity to pursue my dreams and bring my creative visions to life as a fashion designer. The thrill of seeing my designs come to fruition and connecting with people through fashion is incredibly fulfilling. Additionally, working in corporate sales for a furniture dealership allows me to hone my business acumen and build meaningful relationships with clients. The balance of creativity and business in my career keeps me passionate and motivated everyday.
Q: How did your time at Fresno State prepare you for your career and life after college?
Fox: My time at Fresno State prepared me immensely for my career and life after college. Being a Division 1 athlete taught me the values of hard work, discipline, and perseverance. Balancing athletic training with academic responsibilities instilled in me a strong work ethic and the importance of time management
skills. These qualities have been crucial in managing my career goals. Fresno State provided me with the foundation to chase my dreams and succeed in a demanding professional landscape.
Q What is your favorite memory as a student-athlete?
Fox: My favorite memory as a student-athlete at Fresno State is the exhilarating experience of competing in games. The rush of stepping onto the court, feeling the energy of the crowd, and playing the game I love was truly unforgettable. Beyond the competition, I cherish the memories made with my teammates – the camaraderie, the hard-fought victories, and even the challenging times that brought us closer together. These moments forged long-lasting relationships and taught me the value of teamwork and perseverance. The blend of athletic passion and personal connections made my time as a student-athlete incredibly special.
Q: What do you miss most about your time at Fresno State and being a student-athlete?
Fox: What I miss most about my time at Fresno State and being a student-athlete is the sense of community and daily camaraderie, and the experiences, both on and off the court. I also miss the thrill of game day –the excitement of competing and representing my school, and the support from the fans. Those years were filled with memorable moments and friendships that have had a lasting impact..
Q: Looking back at your career, what is one word you'd use to describe it?
Fox: Passionate.
Q: What is the biggest piece of advice you would give to current student-athletes?
Fox: The biggest piece of advice I would give to current student-athletes is continue to believe in themselves,
and embrace every moment and opportunity. Balance your time wisely between academics, athletics, and
personal growth. Remember that the hard work, discipline, and perseverance you develop now will serve
you well in any future career. Build strong relationships, as these personal connections can provide
support and guidance long after your athletic career ends. Most importantly, stay passionate and
committed to your goals, both on and off the court, and never stop chasing your dreams.
