BOISE, Idaho - The Fresno State women's soccer team suffered their third straight defeat on the road on Sunday as the Bulldogs fell to Boise State by a final score of 2-1 at Boas Soccer Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State scored the opening goal of the game in the 10th minute. Laura Mas Serra chipped a pass into the box where the ball bounced off the leg of Klara Chapeyrout right to Tiana Beavers who headed the ball over the Bronco goaltender into the net to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs responded defensively after allowing a season-high seven goals in their last match, not allowing the Broncos to register a shot in the opening half as Fresno State preserved their one goal lead heading into halftime.Â
Boise State looked to tie the match early in the second half, testing goalie Ashton Conley with a close range inside the box that was saved. The Broncos eventually found the equalizer with a shot by Cindy Conner from outside the box that sailed over the head of Ashton Conley to bring the game level at one.Â
Carrying all the momentum, Boise State broke the tie six minutes later when a Bronco shot hit the post and rolled along the goal line before Kenzie MacMillan cleaned up the rebound to put the Broncos in front 2-1.Â
Fresno State struggled to gain much traction in the offensive zone in the second half as the Broncos took control of the possession battle. The Bulldogs lone shot of the second half came in the 87th minute when Ciara Wilson fired a shot on goal that the Bronco netminder turned aside as Fresno State dropped their second straight conference game on Sunday by a final score of 2-1.
