'Dogs push No. 5 Oklahoma State to tiebreaker, fall in raw score

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 8 Fresno State equestrian team battled tough against No. 5 Oklahoma State, but fell in a 10-10 raw score tiebreaker 1506.75-1434.75. The meet was about as close as it could be throughout, with each event seeing a 3-2 win by either team. The Bulldogs close out the fall season with a 2-3 record and 1-2 mark in Big 12 competition.

Bridey Jones earned the fences Most Outstanding Performer honor for the Bulldogs, continuing the streak for the 'Dogs with at least one MOP in each meet this season.

How it happened
Fresno State fell 3-2 in the horsemanship, but picked up points from Abby Goddard and Aubrey Gerdes to stay close in the opening event. Goddard picked up the first point with a narrow 73.5-73.25 victory. Gerdes won in similar fashion, 74.25-73.75.

In the jumping seat, the Cowgirls also had the 3-2 advantage in the fences. Jones earned the first point of the event with an 84 to her opponent's 71.5. Jones picked up her second career MOP, and first since the spring of 2024. Molly Stewart also earned her fences point for the 'Dogs, 72-71.

Fresno State trailed 6-4 at the intermission, but turned things around in the second half. Both second half events were in favor of the Bulldogs, taking the two of them both 3-2.

In the reining, Shelby Robinette, Brogan Hill and Goddard earned points. Robinette scored a 70.25 to her opponent's 69.25. Goddard stayed perfect on the day with a narrow 67.75-67.5 victory. Hill followed up with a 69.5-67.25 victory to keep Fresno State within striking distance of the nation's No. 5-ranked team.

After some seemingly low first round scores in the flat, Fresno State turned it around in the second half and rode for higher scores that gave Fresno State life. After losing the first point, the Bulldogs answered back with a 85.5 ride from Autumn Bradbury, defeating her opponent's 78. The Cowgirls took the following point, but the Bulldogs finished strong with the final two of the event with big scores from Sage Lindvall and Isabella Bertozzi. Both of the final points came by wins of one or less points. Lindvall scored an 84.5 to her opponent's 84, while Bertozzi's 77 was matched with a 76 by Oklahoma State in the final draw.
