COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State redshirt junior nickelback Simeon Harris has been named the Mountain West Old Trapper Defensive Player of the Week after his stellar performance in Fresno State's 30-7 win at Boise State on Saturday.
Â
Harris had six tackles, 3.0 TFL, 1.0 sack, a forced fumble and an interception in the dominant win on The Blue. His 3.0 TFL were a career-high and the most by any Bulldog this season. His sack was a strip sack for the forced fumble that was recovered by Fresno State. It was his first career forced fumble.
Â
Harris led a Fresno State defense that held Boise State to just seven points, its fewest scored in a home game since 2012 vs BYU. It was Boise State's fewest points scored in a home loss since 1993.
Â
The veteran defender led a Bulldog defense that held Boise State to a season-low 193 yards of total offense and three turnovers.
Â
The loss for the Broncos snapped a 16-game home winning streak, an active streak that led the nation. Behind Harris' efforts, Boise State suffered its first Mountain West regular season loss since falling to Fresno State, 37-30, on Nov. 4, 2023. The Broncos had previously won 14 consecutive league contests. The loss also snapped a 10-game home conference winning streak, having last lost a regular season league game at Albertsons Stadium on Oct. 16, 2021 to Air Force.
Â
With the win for the Bulldogs, Fresno State kept possession of the Milk Can trophy and won its third-straight meeting in the series with Boise State. Fresno State also secured bowl eligibility on Saturday, its fifth straight season with a bowl.
Â
Harris becomes the second Bulldog to earn Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week this season, joining fellow Utah State transfer Jadon Pearson.
