Bulldog duo completes pentathlon in indoor opener

RENO, Nev. - The Fresno State track & field team wrapped up the first day of the Silver State Invite and Combined Events on Thursday. A pair of athletes competed in the indoor pentathlon, both placing in the top five.

Ella Spaulding took second in the first indoor pentathlon of the season, scoring a career-best 3,922 points. Spaulding had her best event in her final event of the day, winning the 800m run with a scored time of 2:24.49. She took second in the high jump with a leap of 1.72m/5-7.75 on her third attempt at the height.

Madison Hutton made her return to the indoor pentathlon after taking a year off following her first place finish at the Mountain West championship in 2024. The senior placed fourth on Thursday with 3,726 points. Hutton's best performance came in the 60m hurdles in 8.72 seconds.
