Bulldogs battle Broncos for the win at ExtraMile Arena

BOISE, Idaho - Fresno State secured their sixth win on the road in a neck-n-neck contest against the Broncos on Saturday afternoon at ExtraMile Arena, 67-63.Â
Five hundreds all around, as Kylee Fox and Mia Jacobs both reached their respective 500 point milestones. Fox earned her 500th career point in the first half on a three-pointer. While Jacobs marks the first Bulldog since the 2021-22 season to achieve 500 points in a single season. Jacobs now ties for the second fastest Bulldogs to score 500 points in a season with 27 games. Both Fox and Jacobs had a scoring heavy night as the only 'Dogs to finish in double-digits.Â
For the first time since 2020-21, Bulldogs swept the Broncos in season meetings.Â
How it happenedÂ
Bulldogs played closed to the Broncos in the first quarter. Fresno State opened with a 5-0 run with Saga Ukkonen and Fox's first three-pointer. 'Dogs held a three point lead after Jacobs finished for a layup. Broncos' pulled out a 7-0 run to take a four point lead into the last minute. Rayna Williams popped in a last second jumper at the buzzer bringing it to two, 13-11.Â
Fresno State trailed by as many as seven halfway through the second after Boise State's Pasco third deep shot of the day. Danae Powell paired up her three with Fox's for a 6-0 spurt to get within one. Broncos' responded with another shot from downtown but Rayna Williams backed it up with a solo 4-0 run. All knotted up going into the half, 31-31, after both teams went 2-of-2 from the line. Fox is 500 and counting on career points after her second three-pointer of the day.Â
Fresno State played on the edge for a tie and a chance at the lead three times in the first five minutes, but Boise State kept it pushing making good on every possession after a Bulldog basket. Jacobs hit her 500th point on a layup that brought it back within three. Over two minutes before either team made a basket, Broncos hit a three for their largest lead of the night to close, 49-41.Â
Fresno State never let the Broncos lead for more than five points in the final quarter. Her final basket of the night, Fox made good with another three-pointer. Jacobs tallied on the run with a hook shot jumper. Fresno State's largest scoring run of the night, 7-0. Ukkonen started it the only way with a three followed by Jacobs for a layup and Powell added on for the lead with a steal and score. Bulldogs played with the lead for the final 2:58 extending it to as much as seven. Boise State dropped eight points of the periods' 14 during the Bulldogs lead. It was no match as the 'Dogs outscored 26-14.Â
