Anker strikes out 16 in shutout over Aztecs

SAN DIEGO – The Fresno State baseball team dominated in a shutout performance against San Diego State on Friday night.
With the 7-0 win, Fresno State advances to 16-17 on the season and 9-4 in Mountain West games.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs led off the top of the first inning with back-to-back walks from Owen Faust and Eddie Saldivar at the top of the order. Griffen Sotomayor sent them both home with a two-out double to left field. Bobby Barrels doubled the Bulldog lead in the first by launching his 24th career home run over the left-field wall.
Both sides stood scoreless until the sixth inning when Cayden Munster drove in Blandford, who had singled earlier in the inning, extending the Bulldog lead 5-0.
Murf Gray crushed a solo shot over the left field wall in the seventh inning. With two outs, Griffen Sotomayor extended the inning by reaching first on an error by the Aztec shortstop. Blandford hit a double just inches short of the right field wall that scored Sotomayor, making it a 7-0 game.
Jack Anker pitched through eight innings before being relieved by Jared Galang and Tyler Patrick, who held the Aztecs off, finalizing the 7-0 victory for Fresno State
