Bulldogs ink transfer from San Jose State

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's soccer head coach Brian Zwaschka announced the signing of transfer Payton Hoover to the Bulldogs roster for 2025. Hoover comes to Fresno State from conference rival San Jose State.

She spent one season with the Spartans, appearing in 10 games with one start on the year.
Hoover's soccer journey began at Liberty High School, where she was a four-year varsity player, earning three first-team all-league honors and serving as team captain. Her high school career was marked by impressive statistics, including leading her league in goals and assists. During the 2023–24 season, she tallied 13 goals and six assists over 14 games, showcasing her offensive skill set.

In club soccer, Hoover played for West Coast Soccer Club's Krossfire team, where she was instrumental in securing the NorCal ECNL-RL League Championship. Her performance caught the attention of numerous collegiate programs, ultimately leading her to begin her collegiate career at San José State University.
