Bulldogs dominate against Waves in Malibu

MALIBU, Calif. - The Fresno State swim and dive team opened the new year with a win over Pepperdine on Saturday afternoon, 195.5-62.5.Â
How it happenedÂ
Fresno State started the afternoon already ahead after Friday's sprint session. Bulldogs dominated against Pepperdine taking 13 of the 14 events on Saturday afternoon. Four Bulldogs each scored 18 points for the team, Samantha Arredondo, Franzi Djatej, Aliz Kalmar and Laura Kalmar.Â
The 200 medley relay that featured Sienna Cheng-Lucey, Mackenzie Miller Lung, Hayley Oke, and Jenna Pulkkinen started the fun for the 'Dogs, taking first with a time of 1:42.66. Fresno State would then swim to win the next ten events. Pepperdine's lone win on Saturday came from the 100 butterfly.Â
The sophomore, Djatej grabbed an event win in the 200 IM and 200 butterfly including a second place finish in the 200 medley relay. Double event winners also included Arredondo, A. Kalmar and L. Kalmar.Â
Up next: Fresno State returns to the Aquatic Center for Senior Day to host UC Davis on Jan. 24 at 12 p.m. PT.Â
