How it happened
The Falcons claimed the opening doubles point to take the early 1-0 lead. Air Force secured wins on courts two and three, while Fresno State's top-court duo of Klara Vukicevic and Paulina Montiel were locked in a 5-2 match that went unfinished.
Fresno State fell in the first two completed singles matches with Paulina Montiel dropping first on court two and Louna Cormier following on court six. Air Force built up a 3-0 lead with four ongoing matches.
Sofia Pizzoni, Eliza Dunbar and Andjela Lopicic all claimed the first set of their respective matches. The three Bulldogs would put forth a strong battle to claim consecutive points. Lopicic had a lengthy first set (7-5), by the time Pizzoni and Dunbar were fighting a second set tiebreak on courts one and four, respectively.
Lopicic earned Fresno State's first point of the day on court three, in straight sets after a swift 6-1 second set. Pizzoni and Dunbar followed close behind, playing the best of a tiebreaker set.
Fresno State and Air Force were knotted up, 3-3 with one final match remaining, Klara Vukicevic on court four. After taking the opening set, Vukicevic was edged by Kojonroj, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5, to seal the Falcons' victory.
