Late Fresno State Rally Falls Short in 9–5 Loss at Arizona

The Bulldogs collected eight hits on the night and mounted their comeback in the eighth, highlighted by key run-scoring hits from Mikey Boyd and Zach Plasschaert. Arizona, however, answered late to secure the win.
With the loss, Fresno State moved to 7–6 on the season.
How It Happened
Fresno State starter Parker Heintz kept the Bulldogs in the game early, allowing just one run over the first three innings while scattering two hits and issuing three walks.
Arizona gradually built a lead in the middle innings while Fresno State struggled to break through offensively despite putting runners on base. The Bulldogs left nine runners on base through the game and struck out 11 times.
The Bulldogs finally broke through in the eighth inning with a big rally. Mikey Boyd sparked the offense with a bases-loaded single that drove in two runs. Later in the inning, Zach Plasschaert delivered a two-run double to cut into the deficit, and Owen Faust added an RBI single as Fresno State plated five runs in the frame.
Arizona responded in the bottom of the inning with a run of its own and added insurance to hold off the Bulldogs' comeback attempt. Fresno State managed one baserunner in the ninth but could not continue the rally.
