2019 (Senior): Pena played in 18 games as a senior... made first career start at home against UNLV (March 1) making five assists in the field... notched two hits (March 19 at Pacific and May 10 vs. SDSU)... scored two runs and drove in one RBI... drew a walk against Kansas State (Feb. 22).
2018 (Junior): Played in eight games for the 'Dogs as a junior... got first career hit, a double, against CSUN (April 10)... scored one run against Long Beach State (March 29) & CSUN (April 10)... added his first career RBI against the Matadors... hit by a pitch against at San Francisco (April 4).
Prior to Fresno State: Pena arrives at Fresno State after spending a pair of seasons at Fresno City College under coach Ron Scott... earned a pair of CVC All-Conference honors during his time with the Rams... hit .312 from the plate with three doubles, two triples and 19 RBIs as a freshman in 2016 and came back in 2017 to hit .320 with four home runs, 10 doubles, one triple and drove in 27 RBIs adding a .362 on-base percentage and a .480 slugging percentage.
High School: Was a four-year letter winner at Woodlake Union High School playing shortstop graduating in 2015... selected the ESL Co-MVP and was named First-Team All-League.... earned Second-Team East Sequoia League honors... in his prep career, Pena hit .353 from the plate, including .434 as a senior, finishing with 122 hits, 32 doubles, 75 RBIs and 87 runs scored.
Personal: Son of Carmita and Ed Pena... has a younger brother... chose Fresno State for its great reputation as a baseball program and was the best fit for him.... communications major... admires his parents the most because they push him to the best person he can be... favorite athlete is Bo Jackson because there is no one else like him... enjoys hunting, fishing and hiking in his free time.
