2022 (SENIOR): All-Mountain West second team offensive lineman … Phil Steele second team All-MW offensive lineman … started all 14 games at center for the Bulldogs … helped block for the top offense in the Mountain West … Fresno State's offensive line blocked for a 1,000 yard rusher. 2021 (JUNIOR): Played in all 13 games this season … started in all 13 at different areas of the offensive line … a versatile member of the line, Schmidt started the first two games at right guard, started the next eight games at center, moved to left guard for the New Mexico game, and started the final two back at center … blocked the top offense in the Mountain West and the No. 14 offense in the FBS … Fresno State averaged 464.85 offensive yards per game … Fresno State scored an average of 33.4 points per game … the Bulldogs averaged 137.2 rushing yards per game and 326.7 passing yards per game … part of an offensive line unit that allowed 25 sacks on the quarterback, its least in a season since 2019 … helped Fresno State to two wins over ranked opponents, both on the road. It was the first time Fresno State defeated two Top 25 opponents in a season for the first time since 2004, and the first time both wins came on the road in the 100 year history of the program.

2019 (FRESHMAN): Appeared in seven games and started four … was the starting center against Air Force (Oct. 12), UNLV (Oct. 18), San Diego State (Nov. 15) and Nevada (Nov. 23) … part of an offensive line unit that helped produce 2,162 rushing yards and 2,720 yards in the air in 2019… helped the offense to average 159.3 rushing yards per game and 226.7 passing yards per game … part of an offensive line that kept two opponents from a sack this season … Fall 2019 Academic All-Mountain West.

PERSONAL: Born in Wahiawa, Hawai’i (same hometown as teammate Netane Muti) … son of Peter and Koko Schmidt … has two older brothers; Austin and Alema and a younger sister, Anela … he enjoys spending time with his siblings … was also recruited by Idaho State, Portland State and the University of Idaho … chose to become a Bulldog because he wanted a great opportunity to make it to the next level and to be coached by Coach Tedford.
