Coaching Career:
Alamar was hired as the new special teams and tight ends coach at Fresno State in March of 2010 ... worked with two-time first-team All-WAC kicker Kevin Goessling ... in 2010, Goessling led the team in scoring with 105 points ... under his guidance, Goessling made 21-of-26 field goals with the longest being 52 yards, he was also 42-of-44 for PATs ... Jalen Saunders and Isaiah Burse averaged over 20 yards on kick returns during the 2010 season under Alamar ... spent the previous seven seasons as the tight ends and special teams coach at Cal and has spent 12 years coaching in the Pac-10 Conference ... has coached four teams that won at least 10 games with his 1993 and 1998 Arizona teams going 10-2 and 12-1 and the 2004 and 2006 Cal teams going 10-2 and 10-3 ... coached All-American punt returner DeSean Jackson, who led the NCAA and set a Pac-10 record with four touchdown returns in 2006, while leading the nation with an average of 18.2 yards per return ... coached specialists who earned All-Pac-10 honors for six straight years in Bryan Anger, Javid Best, Mike McGrath and Byron Storer ... special teams flourished in 2006 when the Bears ranked fourth in the nation in punt returns (17.26) and eighth in net punting (38.27) ... Sporting News rated Cal[apos]s special teams unit as the best in the Pac-10 in its 2007 preview issue ... in 2008 developed Cal[apos]s Bryan Anger who was first-team Freshman All-American and was named second-team All-Pac-10 ... Anger was also a Ray Guy award semi-finalist in his rookie collegiate season ... Cal ranked second in the Pac-10 in net punting and third in punt return average in 2009 ... in 2005, Cal ranked fifth nationally and second in the Pac-10 in punt return average (15.64) ... in the 2005 season at Cal, Tim Mixon ranked ninth in the country in punt returns (14.9) ... in 2004, placekicker Tom Schneider set a school record for most PATs with 56 ... prior to joining the Cal staff, he served as offensive coordinator at Eastern Michigan for three seasons (2000-02) where he also coached tight ends and offensive line ...from 1993-99 he was on Tomey[apos]s staff at Arizona, beginning as a graduate assistant coach and working his way up ... was the special teams coach from 1996-99, and also coached linebackers, defensive line and tight ends ... while working with the defensive line at Arizona in 1993, the Wildcats led the nation in rushing defense and ranked second in the NCAA in total defense ... in 1994 he was the head coach of Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Mexico. Playing Career:
Lettered three years as an offensive guard/offensive tackle at Western Oregon (two years) and Cal Lutheran (two years). Played on two national playoff teams, one at each school. Personal:
Alamar and his wife, Tina, have three grown daughters, Alicia, Alexandra and Amanda ... earned a bachelor[apos]s degree in physical education from Cal Lutheran in 1983.
