- Title:
- Director of Player Personnel
Last Updated: April 12, 2022
Albert Garcia enters his second year with Fresno State in 2022 as its director of player personnel, and heads the role as the Bulldogs' professional-level liaison. He joined the Bulldogs recruiting staff in May of 2021.
Garcia joined the staff under previous head coach Kalen DeBoer, and was retained by current head coach Jeff Tedford to assume the same role as Director of Player Personnel. With a change of coaching staff for the Bulldogs in Dec. 2021, and National Signing Day only days away after the hiring of Tedford, Garcia played a big role in cultivating the relationships with the recruited student-athletes, locking in all 10 commits to sign their National Letters of Intent to play at Fresno State despite the coaching staff change.
Come February 2022, Garcia and Tedford's coaching staff put together the No. 1 ranked recruiting class for the class of 2022 in the Mountain West (includes high school, junior college and transfer portal additions) according to 247Sports.
Garcia, a Texas native, earned his bachelors degree from the University of Houston in 2016, and during his academic pursuit got involved with the football program, which paved his way to Fresno State.
Garcia started in the Cougars’ recruiting office in the spring of 2016 as a high school relations intern, and a year was elevated to recruiting analyst. As a recruiting analyst, for two seasons (2017-18), under then-head coach Major Applewhite, Garcia conducted prospect evaluations in coordination with designated recruiting coach and was a part of the 2018 Houston class that produced a finished 73rd ranking nationally. He worked under Preston Pehrson, the director of player personnel at Houston at the time.
The Houston native also spent eight months as an intern in the Houston Athletics fan experience department and one year as a tailgate ambassador for the Houston Texans. As a graduate of the University of Houston, Garcia was the vice president for the University of Houston Terry Scholar student organization for the 2014-15 academic year.
