Charles Young joined the Bulldogs’ staff in 2021 and was promoted to Director of Basketball Performance in 2022.
In this role, Young oversees the design and implementation of a high performance training program that focuses on training each athlete holistically, which includes individual strength work, conditioning, power development, speed and reactive agility, mobility and plyometrics to compliment their skills on the court.
Prior to working at Fresno State, Young was the head men’s basketball strength and conditioning coach for UC Davis (2019-21) and Utah Valley (2018-19) and was a strength and conditioning intern for the basketball and golf programs at Michigan (2017-18).
Young also worked with the Illinois football program (2014-15) and the Lake Forest College athletic department, and spent time in the private sector working as a personal trainer.
Young, who resides in Clovis, Calif., with his girlfriend Ariel and their son Xavier, graduated from Western Michigan in 2015 with a bacehlor’s degree in exercise science and received his master’s degree in Kinesiology from A.T. Still University in 2021.
