Bulldogs' Grapplers Dominate Fullerton Open

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Bulldogs swept the top three spots in the 141 division while winning four first place finishes at the Fullerton Open on Sunday.
Derrick Hayes defeated Ben Martinez by decision (7-4) in the 133 division final to put the Bulldogs on the podium in both first and second place. Ralph Lopez won by default over Pariz Ruiz, a former 'Dog, and George Moreno took third to dominate the 141 division.
In the 149 division, Jim Medeiros placed fourth and Peter Le placed sixth. Eddie Gifford took fourth in the 165 division
Jason Rossotti won by decision (6-4) over Charles Sandlin (Cal Poly SLO) for a first place finish in the 184 division. Billy Blunt also took first, winning the heavyweight division by decision (5-2) over John Devine (CSU Bakersfield).
1999 National Champion Stephen Abas did not wrestle due to a sore elbow. Nathan Vasquez did not compete because of an infection in his eye.
