Parco clinches All-American honors

ST. LOUIS - Fresno State 149-pound redshirt freshman Kyle Parco won four matches on Friday at the 2021 NCAA Championships at the Enterprise Center and assured himself of All-American honors.
With a 7-4 win in the blood round over No. 6 seed Bryce Andonian of Virginia Tech in the evening session, Parco assured himself of becoming the 23rd All-American in program history.
Trailing 3-2 after the first period, Parco racked up two minutes of riding time in the second period and was able to get a takedown in the final seconds of the third period and added a point for riding time for a three-point win.
His work was not done there as he topped No. 7 seed Jonathan Millner of Appalachian State, 9-5 later in the session using four takedowns and a riding time point to assure himself of a top-six finish on Saturday.
In the morning session, Parco stayed alive in the consolation bracket earning a 3-2 win over No. 31 seed Cory Crooks of Arizona State in the first round of consolation as his takedown with 37 seconds remaining in the third period broke a 1-1 tie.
In his second match of the morning session, Parco topped No. 9 seed Legend Lamer of Cal Poly, 5-2 using a pair of first-period takedowns and a riding time point to stay alive for the evening session.
Parco will close out action on Saturday morning where he will take on No. 4 seed Boo Lewallen of Oklahoma State in the consolation semifinals in Session VI at 8 a.m. PT on ESPN2.
The 'Dogs other wrestler in action in St. Louis, 141-pounder DJ Lloren fell 4-1 to No. 14 seed Dylan Duncan in his first match of the day picking up an escape in the first period, but was unable to get a takedown as he saw his tournament end.
The Clovis native ends his season with a 12-3 overall record and finishes 34-10 in his two-year Bulldog career after going 22-7 in 2019-20 and was a two-time NCAA Championships qualifier.
