Stephen Abas is Eliminated From World Championships

FRESNO, Calif. - Senior Stephen Abas lost in the first round of competition to Herman Kontoyev of Bulgaria by a 7-6 decision at the World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Nov. 22-25.

Abas won in the second round against India's Kripa Shankar Patel by a 8-1 decision, however since Kontoyev won the pool, Abas was eliminated from further competition.

Kontoyev went on to win the World Championship title at 119 pounds. For complete results of the World Championships, visit www.themat.com.
