#15 Softball Takes A Split With Hawai'i

FRESNO, Calif. - #15 Fresno State recorded its third doubleheader split on the season after dropping a 2-0 decision to Hawai'i in the night cap.
The Bulldogs, who maintain a half game lead over the Rainbow Wahine in the Western Athletic Conference standings, was held to one hit and committed one error.
Hawai'i's Desiree Duran (10-4) held the Bulldogs' bats a bay after giving up one hit while walking three and striking out two.
Sophomore right-hander Leslie Poole (15-6) saw her five-game win streak and her scoreless and unearned run streak halted. Poole, who pitched 6.1 innings, gave up two earned runs, walked one and struck out three as her streak ended at 47.2 innings. Sophomore right-hander Lindsay Foster pitched 0.2 innings in relief.
Hawai'i picked up a run in the fifth and added an insurance run in the seventh. The Rainbow Wahine, who improve to 33-14 overall and 4-2 in the WAC, had four players notch multiple hit games in Natalie Gonzales(2-4, run), Tyree Woodruff (2-4), Stacie Hirano (2-4) and Duran (2-3). Woodruff and Hirano each picked up a RBI for UH as the Rainbow Wahine also had three doubles in the game.
In the fifth inning and with one out, the Rainbow Wahine got their first run of the game when Duran doubled to center field and Gonzales followed with a RBI single to center field. In the seventh with one out, Gonzales doubled to left center before Hirano line a shot up the middle for the second run.
Fresno State's Mitzi Ing, who had the game-winning RBI in game one, was the only Bulldog to pick up a hit as she went 1-1 with a sacrifice.
The same two teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, April 14, for another WAC doubleheader at 1:00 pm.
