Almada, the tournament's top-seeded player, breezed past Vincent Kubler of Pacific in his round of 16 match 6-1, 6-2. In his quarterfinal match, the junior had a bit of a struggle but advanced by defeating No. 6-seed Nicolas Beuque of San Diego 7-6 (3), 6-4.
Almada will take on 13th-seeded Amar Sigurdsson of Pacific in the semifinals on Sunday at 9 a.m.
The other semifinal will be an all-Bulldog affair, with Schaerer battling Suta, the defending champion in singles and doubles. The unseeded Schaerer opened his day by fighting past No. 3-seed Robbie Blair of San Diego 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. He then advanced to the semis with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Jaakko Asuja of Loyola Marymount.
Suta, who is attempting to become just the second player in Bulldog Classic history to repeat as champion, won his round of 16 match 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Pierrick Ysern of San Diego. In the quarterfinals, Suta took down seventh-seeded Michael Duong of Pacific 6-2, 6-1.
