Almada/Suta Still Alive in Omni Hotels Regional Championships

FRESNO, Calif. - The doubles team of Hector Almada and Stefan Suta have advanced to the semifinals of the Omni Hotels Regional Championships, which wraps up Tuesday in Moraga, Calif.
The eighth-seeded duo won their round of 16 match against No. 11-seeded Fred Sundsten and Nick Weiss of Washington by a score of 8-6. Almada and Suta advanced to the semis with an 8-5 victory over Pablo Pires de Almeida and Jordan Arnesen of San Francisco.
Almada and Suta are looking for their second doubles title of the fall. They won the Wathen/Hancock Bulldog Classic crown two weeks ago.
In the consolation singles bracket, Suta has advanced to the semifinals and will play Nick Weiss of Washington on Tuesday. Suta defeated Maxime Lacroix of Pacific 6-4, 6-3 and Michael Duong of Pacific 6-1, 6-2 to make it through to the final four.
The Omni Hotels Regional Championships, the fall season's biggest tournament, wraps up Tuesday at Saint Mary's College.
