Wrestling Holds Its Own in Reno

FRESNO, Calif. - Six of eight Fresno State wrestlers made it to the second round of the Reno Tournament of Champions. The one day tournament featured 21 teams five of which are ranked by Intermat Wrestling.
Five of those six Bulldogs won their second round matches. Junior Jim Mederios won a decision over Brian Cobb, 5-4 in the 157 weight class. Ben Baca a senior won the decision over Mike Font(Davis), 11-4. By technical fall senior Eddie Gifford beat Josh Fitzgerald (So. Oregon), 15-0 at 174 weight class. Sophomore Jatinder Singh won the decision over Josh Carroll (App. St), 13-6 in the 184 weight class. The last win of the night would come in the 197 weight class, from sophomore Marcio Botelho, who had a pin in the first round , winning the major decision over Venroy July (UNC), 13-5.
